Biodiversity is the main ecological value of Sierra Nevada, its vascular flora, with more than 2.100 species, represents almost a third of those existing in the Iberian Peninsula. Here you can enjoy real botanical jewels.
We will ascend to the high peaks of the massif mountain in search of the most relevant and conspicuous species. We will visit traditional trails, alpine landscapes and glacial lakes. Three days watching exclusive flora ascending to the highest peak of the peninsula, Mulhacén, to study the alpine flora of its slopes, or approaching to Siete Lagunas to know the flora of flooded grasslands.

Detailed programme:
- Day 1:
We arrived at the Alpujarra Granadina, we will make a path in the Valle de Poqueira by a traditional trail that descends among mountain vegetation, combining indigenous oak forest (Adenocarpus decorticans, Quercus pyrenaica, etc.) with the ancestral crops linked to the economy of the silk with the mulberry trees, and to the chestnut grove.
- Day 2:
From Capileira we will climb to 2.500 meters above sea level, where our journey begins. We will carry out a gradual ascent to the environment of the highest peak of the peninsula, Mulhacén (3.379 meters).
There are endemic species such as Linaria glacialis, Chaenorrinum glareosum, Leontodon boryi, Ranunculus glacialis, Viola crassiuscula, Sempervivum minutum and species boreoalpinas as Papaver lapeyrousianum, Gentiana alpina.
- Day 3:
We will go to one of the most beautiful places of this range, “La cañada de Siete Lagunas”. A set of small glacial lakes that pour their waters to the río Trevélez. We will see much of the endemic flora of this protected area.
In the borreguil we will detect among others, Pinguicola nevadenssis, Veronica turbicola, Gentiana sierrae, Antenaria dioica, Plantago Nivalis, etc.
