La Fageda, cow farm and dairy products

From the Visitor Service La Fageda Fundació are visits to families and individuals all weekends and holidays. In school holidays we also carry out visits on weekdays. Our visits are always by appointment. The visit, including tasting lasts approximately 1h30. and is priced at 4 euros for adults, 2 euros for youth 11-18 years old, 1 euro for children 6-10, free for children under 6 years. The opening hours of our facilities is 9 to 15h. A guide will accompany you to the farm where you will see cows in production, the labor ward, calves and milking parlor. It will also explain its operation. Once in the factory, from the outside, you can see how we transform milk into yogurt and desserts, as well as the different processes and fermentation. Surroundings

La Fageda is situated in the region of the Garrotxa, an area with a large collection of natural treasures, among them the Natural Park of Volcanic Zone of the Garrotxa, a vast landscape of 12,000 acres with over forty volcanoes hidden between vegetation, and the Alta Garrotxa, an area of high mountains very quiet Area of Natural Interest declared part of the Natura 2000. In the Natural Park there are 28 walking routes that pass through places of great scenic attraction. Natural Park itineraries connect to the network of trails Itinerànnia, which in turn, can easily walk to any point of the Garrotxa, Ripollès or Alt Empordà. La Garrotxa is also an excellent place to practice cycling and has the Greenway Olot-Girona.

Commitment to the conservation of the biodiversity and local development

We have a fisco-chemical and biological treatment plant for the treatment of wastewater generated in the farm.

With the biomass boiler we have considerably reduced the consumption of propane gas and CO2 emissions.

We create a mobility plan that consists of sharing the private vehicle to move to the factory, concentrating the number of loads and downloads and courier service once a day, and promoting the approach of visitors on foot through the different itineraries of the Natural Park. The overall reduction in number of trips has been 36%.

We support the local economy bought from local suppliers, hiring local staff and disseminating activities and businesses in the surrounding area.

We have a Corporate Social Responsibility protocol in which the task of labor insertion of people with disabilities stands out, ensuring optimal socio-labor conditions. More than half of the workers are at risk of social exclusion due to chronic mental illness or intellectual disability.

We collaborate by offering our products in local projects, humanitarian aid and poverty eradication.
